April 24, 2020

Greetings Warrior Students and Families,

Just a reminder that online instruction begins Monday, April 27th.  The schedule for learning is attached (01 - CPHS Online Instruction - Student Schedule (English and Spanish).pdf) and can be found on the website.  Students can login at times that are convenient to your family and do not have to be present during the office hours.  Office hours are there to provide access to the teacher in case you have questions and we encourage students to be present during those times as much as possible.

As a reminder, we will be using Microsoft Teams and Student Email as our main communication tools.  Students should log in to Teams and Email through Office 365.  We have created a couple of videos to help support students in logging in and using Teams.  We encourage your student to watch these videos to be sure that they can access Teams on Monday morning.  Directions are also attached (Accessing EMail and Teams).

Finally, Warrior Yearbooks are on sale.  The cost is $32 and you can order them online until April 30th.  To buy a yearbook, go to the Clover Park High School webpage, click on “News” and follow the instructions in the section “Warrior Yearbooks On Sale.”

Have a great weekend, Warriors!  We miss you and look forward to seeing you online on Monday!

April 20, 2020

Greetings Warrior Students and Families,

We are excited about the start of 4th quarter! We understand this is a great shift in learning for your students. We understand the shift this is causing in your homes. We appreciate everyone’s determination to support student learning during this era of Covid-19.

As our teachers move into online instruction for your students, we have attached the instructional schedule 01 - CPHS Online Instruction - Student Schedule (English and Spanish).pdf) for your families.  Each school day, there are only two class periods of instruction.  Teachers will be online and present during this time, in the Microsoft TEAMS Learning Platform.  Teachers may also be continuing to reach out through Skyward.  We expect students to connect online into teams sometime during the day, to their designated class periods; example: Monday is period 1 and 2.  Teachers will be providing instruction, guidance, resources, notes, videos, assignments, and summative tests.  Each class, will only have 1-2 assignments per week.  Each class will only have 1-2 Skyward gradebook assignment entries each week.  When your student completes the assignment(s) for that class for the week, the teacher will place the score into the gradebook.

With all of this, each class will only meet one time per week.  Your student should only have 2-3 hours of learning and studying, per class, per week.   8-16 total assignments per week.  1 to 2 assignments per class, per week. A student with 8 classes, would have 16-24 hours of classwork per week. We encourage students to login and check in with each class during the designated class time, but minimally, at least on that day of the class. Teachers will be available many more times during the week for your student to email and ask questions.

To ensure that you are prepared to make the change to online learning next week, you will need to be able to access two things; your new student email account and Microsoft Teams.  The second attachment 02 - Accessing Email and Teams (English and Spanish).pdf) is directions for accessing email and Microsoft Teams.  All students have been provided with an email address (your district ID number ending in “@edweb.cloverpark.k12.wa.us.”  Your password is the password you use to login to the computer at school.  You will login to Teams using your email address.  Instructions on how students use Teams will be coming later this week.

The third attachment 03 - HS GradesCredits Flowchart Spring 2020 (English and Spanish).pdf) is our Grading Policy.  This is a flow chart, to explain how CPSD High Schools are following the direction provided to us, during this era of Covid-19, from the Office of Public Instruction and the State Board of Education. As it stands, a student cannot earn a final Semester grade lower than their 3rd quarter grade.  We understand the significant difference from 3rd quartder face to face instruction in the schools, to now the online learning of the 4th quarter.  We will be reaching out to families and students when we see that htey are not engaging in the online learning platform that begins on April 27th.

We encourage all of our students to push for their very best each and every day.  This is especially important, because we want students aiming for their best grades they can earn, as there are future implications to a student’s transcript with many P’s for passing.

These implications could be with college acceptance, scholarship awards, NCAA eligibility and others.  No matter the situation or circumstances we find ourselves in, we always want our students to have as many options and opportunities in their futures.

We are looking for a great and strong 4th quarter with our students, and we will see you online!

Greetings Warrior Families,

We miss you!  We hope that this finds you and your families well.  A few quick updates:

  • Online Learning
    • This week and next week are focused on Advisory.  Advisors should have emailed out assignments and instructions.  For students with limited access to technology, we have placed alternate assignments under the “Closure Coursework” tab on the Clover Park High School webpage.  Email your advisor or call the school if you need access in a different way.
    • Teachers have been spending the week preparing for online instruction that will start on April 27.  They spent all morning today in a training on how to use Microsoft Teams, which will be the main platform for instruction.
    • In order to be prepared for continuous learning, students should install a FREE version of Office 365 on personal computer or device.  You will also be able to access Office 365 online through the Clover Park High School Website.
      • Directions attached – O365 student install.pdf
      • Can be used on multiple devices, including cell phones
      • For tablet/phone, go through the Clover Park High School website (click on “Students” in the top menu and then click on “Office365”). After you sign-in (your user name is your 6 digit student ID number followed by “@edweb.cloverpark.k12.wa.us), you can download “Microsoft Office,” which combines Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Other Microsoft apps can be downloaded individually (Teams, OneDrive, OneNote).
    • District-based student email will be turned on.  More information will be forthcoming.
  • Work Collection
    • We have placed two secure drop boxes outside of the main doors to CPHS.  Students can drop off work into the secure drop boxes at any time (not just during open office hours).  Work will be picked up from the boxes daily.  Please make sure to put your Skyward name, teacher, and period on the work and put it in the box that corresponds with your student’s grade.

Please let us know if you have any questions or need anything!  We miss you dearly!
