January: The Month to Achieve Our Goals

We are excited to welcome you back from holiday break, hoping that you spent some quality time with loved ones and were able to do some things that bring you joy.  Our theme from ASB this month is, "It's Our Time To Achieve Our Goals."  Students will be engaging in activities that will have them reflect on their academic progress, set goals for the new year, and create plans for the future.  Course registration will begin in February and we will be encouraging our students to learn more about the programs that we have to offer and be intentional about choosing their classes for the next school year.  For example, did you know that we have courses in computer science and cybersecurity that can lead to high paying jobs shortly after high school? And did you know that we still offer classes in engineering and offer opportunities for students to learn how to frame, work with concrete, and learn how to the tools that will help students gain access to apprenticeships and other opportunities after high school? These are a couple of examples of the programs that students will be learning more about in the next few weeks.

Students should utilize the upcoming weeks to finalize all assignments and finish strong in their classes to ensure they are passing and earning all credits. Grade level messages will be sent to all families regarding the specifics of what end of semester means for each grade.

Extended Learning

Extended learning is being offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 – 4:30. Extended learning is a great opportunity for students to get extra support in classes. Students can work on assignments, get help from teachers and tutors, and utilize the time to review or retake tests. Students have access to the activity bus at 4:45 for a ride home. For questions about Extended Learning please email Ms. Sau at: [email protected]

Attendance

The Clover Park High School Attendance team is working hard to support all students in having consistent on time attendance to all classes. Regular on time attendance is critical for all students’ success in high school. In order to support students with attendance, the team has put the following steps into place..

  • Positive Attendance Raffles - Students who are on time to all of their classes will have their names placed in a raffle to win a prize
  • Multiple Tardies – Students who have 5 or more tardies in a week will receive lunch detention on the Tuesday or Thursday of the following week

To check your student’s attendance or excuse an absence for your student, log into your parent Skyward and select the absence tab.  For any attendance related questions, please call our attendance line at 253-583-5517.
